On Tuesday, June 15, gather at the former Port Credit Lawn Bowling property for the revealing of the Port Credit 175th Anniversary Commemorative Flowerbed!
Designed and built by members of the Cloverleaf Garden Club of Mississauga, the flowerbed was made possible with the support from City of Mississauga and The Port Credit 175th Anniversary Committee. This project was sponsored in part by Edelweiss Landscape Garden City Groundskeeping Services Ltd. Sheridan Nurseries Terra Greenhouses, Scotts Miracle-Gro and Scotiabank The Cloverleaf Garden Club entered into a Parks Community Stewardship Agreement with the City of Mississauga for the temporary use of part of this vacant property for the duration of the 2010 gardening season. This piece of land was owned and operated by the Port Credit Lawn Bowling Club from 1912 until the mid-1990's. The land has been vacant since then. The 20' x 15' flowerbed symbolizes Port Credit as "the village by the lake". The design includes a rainbow that reflects the rainbows seen over the lake. The materials used are annual flowering plants and boxwood, an evergreen shrub. The former Port Credit Lawn Bowling property is located at the south-west corner of Hurontario and Park Street (recommended parking at the Port Credit GO Station, across the street). |
